Regular Council

THAT this Regular Meeting of Council is hereby called to order at 4:00 p.m.

THAT the agenda be accepted as presented.

THAT the Minutes of the Regular Meeting of Council held January 14, 2025 be adopted as circulated and that same be filed in the Clerk's Office.

THAT Council hereby receives the report from the Clerk for shoreline purchase; AND THAT the Clerk is hereby directed to bring forward a by-law to authorize the sale of the Shoreline Road Allowance laying in front of Plan 451, South Part Lot 8 known as 2307 Amethyst Harbour South Bay Avenue.

THAT Council hereby receives the report from the Clerk for shoreline purchase; AND THAT the Clerk is hereby directed to bring forward a by-law to authorize the sale of the Shoreline Road Allowance laying in front of Plan 763, Lot 62 known as 1213 Grandview Beach Drive.

THAT Council hereby receives the report from the CAO regarding the Community Safety and Policing Grant Agreement for 2024-2025; AND THAT Council directs administration to bring forward a By-law to enter into an agreement for funding under the new Community Safety and Policing (CSP) Act for front-line police officer enforcement enhancement; AND THAT the same be filed in the Clerk's Office.

THAT Council hereby receives a copy of the Thunder Bay District Municipal League (TBDML) Conference Sponsorship package and directs staff to register for the Bronze Refreshment Break sponsorship level in the amount of $400.00; AND THAT the same be filed in the clerk's Office.

THAT Council hereby receives a copy of both Council and Committee 2024 remuneration summaries and the same be filed in the Clerk's Office.

THAT A By-law to authorize the sale of the shoreline road allowance to the owners of 1975 Crystal Beach Avenue, being Plan M-100, Part 27 be read a First and Second time this 28th day of January 2025;

THAT A By-law to authorize the sale of the shoreline road allowance to the owners of 1975 Crystal Beach Avenue, being Plan M-100, Lot 27 be read a Third and Final time and numbered 3401-25; AND THAT the said By-law be engrossed in the By-law Book.

THAT A By-law to authorize the sale of the shoreline road allowance to the owners of 2307 Amethyst Harbour South Bay Avenue, being Plan 451 South Part Lot 8 be read a First and Second time this 28th day of January 2025;

THAT A By-law to authorize the sale of the Shoreline Road Allowance to the owners of 2307 Amethyst Harbour South Bay Avenue, being Plan 451 South Part Lot 8 be read a Third and Final time and numbered 3402-25; AND THAT the said By-law be engrossed in the By-law Book.

THAT A By-law to authorize the CAO to enter into a grant agreement between Shuniah and His Majesty the King in right of Ontario be read a First and Second time this 28th day of January 2025.

THAT A By-law to authorize the CAO to enter into a grant agreement between Shuniah and His Majesty the King in right of Ontario be read a Third and Final time and numbered 3403-25 AND THAT SAID By-law be engrossed in the By-law Book.

THAT Council hereby receives the following correspondence: a. Peterborough - Resolution re: Bill 242 Safer Municipalities Act 2024 b. Hawksbury - Letter re: Municipal Code of Conduct c. TBDHU - Board of Health Meeting Minutes - December 18, 2024 and the same be filed in the Clerk's Office.

THAT Council hereby receives and supports the Township of Puslinch TAPMO Letter Regarding Pre-Budget Announcement; AND THAT Council directs the Clerk to forward a copy of this resolution to the Minister of Finance, the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing, local school boards, AMO, ROMA, Local MPPs, and the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation.

THAT Council hereby receives a copy of the list of Unfinished Business dated January 23, 2025, and that same be filed in the Clerk’s Office.

THAT at the hour of 4:32 Council moves into In-Camera Session.

THAT at the hour of 4:40 p.m. Council hereby resumes the meeting in open session.

THAT Council for the Municipality of Shuniah hereby appoint the following person to fill the Community Representative position on the Lakehead OPP Detachment Board: Rox-Anne Moore

THAT a By-law to confirm the proceedings of Council be read a First, Second and Third time on this 28th day of January 2025 and Numbered 3404-25; AND THAT the said By-law be engrossed in the By-law Book.

THAT the hour of 4:42 p.m. having arrived this regular Meeting of Council hereby adjourns.
